Volunteer-Led Committees & Charters

Events Committee

MA’s Events Committee oversee all MA events with a focus on Meet Magento Conferences. The recommendations of this committee will be provided to the MA Board of Directors, and will directly influence the organization’s events strategy. The committee consists of Meet Magento event organizers as well as other community members who participate in MA events.

Committee Structure

  • Committee is chaired by a MA Board member.
  • Committee consists of 5-8 MA members, as well as an Adobe liaison and a MA staff liaison.
  • Committee members should have working experience with Magento (preferably current/recent) and a desire to make a positive impact.
  • Committee members serve a 12-month term and may be asked by the committee chair to renew for a second term if they are interested.
  • Committee members will participate in a monthly committee call, and engage with the committee and staff by email in between calls. Members should expect to commit 3-5 hours/month to their involvement, and must be present for at least 75% of calls.
  • Where available, committee members may also be asked to participate in local events, including Meet Magento Conferences. These are not mandatory, but if available, committee members are asked to attend and gather member feedback.

Objectives

  • To contribute to, review and approve all Meet Magento MA materials including contracts, guidelines and resources.
  • To review Meet Magento program content (educational sessions and networking events)
  • Determine how MA can best support Meet Magento event organizers
  • Create and oversee MA’s event strategy
  • Identify gaps in training - what MA should fill and what Adobe should fill

Membership Committee

MA’s Membership Committee is comprised of organization members working together to ensure that the value proposition of MA reflects the landscape of the community. Committee members strive to create opportunities for MA members to maximize their community experience. The Committee is also responsible for overseeing MA membership enhancement projects, overall growth strategies and working with the MA Board of Directors on member-related issues.

  • Committee will consist of 7-10 MA members, as well as an Adobe liaison and a MA staff liaison.
  • Committee members should have working experience with Magento (preferably current/recent) and a desire to make a positive impact.
  • Committee members serve a 12-month term, and may be asked by the committee chair to renew for a second term if they are interested.
  • Committee members will be asked to participate in a bimonthly committee call, and to engage with the committee and staff by email in between calls. Members should expect to commit 2-3 hours/month to their involvement, and must be present for at least 75% of calls.
  • Where available, committee members may also be asked to participate in local events, including Meet Magento Conferences. These are not mandatory, but if available, committee members are asked to attend and gather member feedback on educational programming and needs.

Objectives

  • To conduct and evaluate the results of a membership survey
  • To review and audit member benefits
  • To review and adapt proposed membership ideas including potential pricing models
  • To weigh in on membership-related endeavors from marketing, education, and IT teams

Content Committee

MA’s Content Committee will serve as a member-led committee of advocates and moderators of the Magento Association online communities, contributing to the direction and growth of MA’s discussion forums, social media and editorial presence. The committee is responsible for overseeing discussion forums, peer-reviewed editorial standards, user and partner content, and social media presence.

Objectives

  • Continue to source opportunities for online-based engagement of all volunteers
  • Drive engagement in the discussion forums through peer-to-peer moderating and advocacy, as well as provide feedback to the MA team in accessibility, organization and usefulness of the discussion forums
  • Drive peer-reviewed editorial standards for MA, user, and partner content, as well as advocate for increased user-generated content among the MA community
  • Increase the relevance of the MA social media communities, as well as advocate for their growth

Finance Committee

MA’s Finance Committee is responsible for assessing the organization's overall financial health. Working with the Director of Finance, the committee recommends financial policies, procedures and oversees annual budget and audit approval.

Committee Structure

  • Committee is chaired by the MA Board of Directors Treasurer
  • Committee will consist of 3-4 MA members, as well as a Adobe liaison and a MA staff liaison.
  • Committee members should have working experience with Magento (preferably current/recent) and a desire to make a positive impact.
  • Committee members serve a 12-month term, and may be asked by the committee chair to renew for a second term if they are interested.
  • Committee members will participate in quarterly calls to review MAs financial status and financial policies. Members should expect to commit 2-3 hours quarterly to their involvement, and must be present for at least 75% of calls.
  • Committee will review and approve financial documents before Board approval including annual budgets and audits.

Objectives

  • Review and approve MA financial policies and guidelines
  • Review and approve MA annual audit before it is presented to the Board for approval
  • Review and approve MA annual budget before it is presented for Board approval
  • Review quarterly forecasts before they are presented to the Board for approval

Partner Committee

MA's Partner Review Committee is responsible for oversight of MA's pay-to-play partnerships with the community. This includes strategic partnerships with sponsors, approval of vendor content and oversight of MA's partner's interactions with the community.

Committee Structure

  • Committee is chaired by an MA Board member.
  • Committee will consist of 3-4 MA members, as well as an Adobe liaison and a MA staff liaison.
  • Committee members should have working experience with Magento (preferably current/recent) and a desire to make a positive impact.
  • Committee members serve a 12-month term, and may be asked by the Chair to renew for a second term if they are interested.
  • Committee members participate on calls on a needs basis as sponsorship issues and discussions arise.
  • The committee will review and approve sponsor emails, resources and how partners are interacting with the MA community.

  • Review and approve partner emails to MA membership
  • Review and approve partner resources available to MA members
  • Provide guidance on partner related issues when needed
