Both

How have you been involved in the Magento ecosystem?

Since 2009. I have been active contributor as growing Magento SIs, helping community building and employment generation indirectly. As Agency grow, employment grows. I have been speaker to Meet Magento in India, Singapore, UK and Indonesia. I have acted as eCommerce evangelist and helped more than 150 merchants go online so far. Widely known in Magento ecosystem in Asia. Also active member in Magento Association's D&I committee.

In what ways have you contributed to the Magento Association and/or other non-profit communities?

As mentioned above, I have helped more than 15 Magento Tech / SI companies in India to grow, generate employment, produce contributors, & certified developers. I have been speaker to Meet Magento in India, Singapore, UK and Indonesia. I have acted as eCommerce evangelist and helped more than 150 merchants go online so far. Widely known in Magento ecosystem in Asia. Also active member in Magento Association's D&I committee.

What value would you add to the Board to help us advance our mission?

Asian presentation at Board is not there, this will help you bring Asian perspective of Magento Community which is one of the largest in size. Also, at any Asian event, I will be able to act as an evangelist and assist in adding more members. As an active member, I would love to stand and support the future of Magento Open Source at large. As it is not just a solution, it is a career for thousands of people. I can see myself as brand ambassador of MC in Meet Magento events in Asia.

What are the top 3 initiatives you want to see the Board accomplish in the next 6 months?

- More members (without that MA will struggle)

- Clear roadmap for Open Source and putting strong leadership on product roadmap

- Bring cheer and joy of code contribution, being Magento Masters, and more Meet Magentos

What initiatives do you want to see the Magento Association focus on in the coming years?

Sustaining for long - play infinite game. And stay as preferred open source for eCommerce implementation. That will help whole community survive and thrive.

What are the biggest challenges that you think the Association has faced and how would you approach them?

After change in leadership at MA board, we have not seen lot of communication from MA. After Adobe Acquisition there is no clear roadmap for MOS.

Sometimes, being accountable for open source, if I am on board, I would do all possible action to connect/unite community, take the open source ahead. And would have tried to have next set of thought leaders who can be a torch bearer for community.

If Adobe does not allow/push limitations, then I would communicate clearly to the community, so that they can decide their future. And I would put community interest in priority over partnership status with Adobe.

What else would you like to share to either the Election Committee or the membership of the Magento Association as they review your application? What makes you a great candidate to join the Board of Directors?

What I have done so far directly/indirectly should be reviewed without any bias. If it sounds worthy then should be selected. And board must have representation of all race / geo/ gender.

How have you been involved in the Magento ecosystem?

I’ve worked with Magento for over 11 years. Most relevant involvement would be conference talks, creating Hyva which sparked new life into the OS community and initiating MOSCA aka the open letter aka mage-os. I’m also taking part in the Open Source Task Force at the MA.

In what ways have you contributed to the Magento Association and/or other non-profit communities?

I’m part of the OS Task Force. Talked at MA Connect and had several talks with MA board members throughout the years to provide input on “how to make the MA work”. I also publicly criticize the MA when I think things should improve, with the intention to make the MA better.

Critique, but with the intent to be constructive.

What value would you add to the Board to help us advance our mission?

Bringing the community and the MA together. Forging a bond between MageOs and the MA. Help fix the broken image of the MA. Break communication open and make things more transparent.

What are the top 3 initiatives you want to see the Board accomplish in the next 6 months?

Magento STS, magento.org (which I’ve passionately lobbied for in the OS Task force), creating an overall “face” for the Magento brand. Growing the community that backs the MA.

What initiatives do you want to see the Magento Association focus on in the coming years?

Pretty much previous answer. Create a new home for the Magento brand, community and platform.

What are the biggest challenges that you think the Association has faced and how would you approach them?

I think the MA has not had a real sense of purpose or urgency until last year. I personally think I’ve helped create that with MageOS by publishing our open letter. That brought the attention from the right people and woke up the community.

The MA has a really bad rep. Most talk about it on social media/podcasts etc has historically been extremely negative.

Lack of open communication/transparency. No connection to the community, no traction. Closed financial records (despite years of promises to open them).

I would push for change, use my public outreach to ‘reset’ the reputation and start a stream of positive communication.

I’m not someone to bring loads of resources, planning, research, writing documents etc. What I can and will bring to the table is good discussions, vision, connection, ideas, and a lot of constructive critique.

What else would you like to share to either the Election Committee or the membership of the Magento Association as they review your application? What makes you a great candidate to join the Board of Directors?

I’m open, direct, good in connecting people, good in bringing messages across and I think I can bring a lot of value and purpose to the MA. I’m not necessarily a trouble maker, but I do move things and stir things up.

Above anything: my mission for the next 5-10 years is to make Magento as successful as it can be. With Hyva, with MageOS, and if you allow me, also with the MA.
