Hyvä Developers Paradise: A Look Into the Future of Magento

The Hyvä Developers Paradise conference brought together the Magento community for two days of deep discussions, roadmap insights, and groundbreaking innovations. Developers from different countries gathered to share knowledge, raise concerns, and shape the future of Magento and Hyvä.

Day 1: DevExchange & The Power of Community

The event kicked off with DevExchange, an open-format discussion where participants shaped the agenda themselves, voting on the most pressing topics. The conversation covered technical challenges, like Hyvä Template Management and Magewire outside of checkout, as well as broader concerns about the future of Magento.

One recurring theme was the slow pace of Magento development—some bugs and pull requests have been waiting for years. Despite this, the overall mood remained optimistic. As long as Hyvä continues to innovate, Magento remains competitive. An idea that resonated with many was a Magento Association initiative to provide more transparency on upcoming releases, ensuring the community knows which fixes and improvements to expect.

As the sun set, the Pre-Party set the tone for an evening of networking and collaboration. The Magento ecosystem is often described as a family, and this event proved it—open discussions, shared experiences, and even a birthday celebration for Karlijn Löwik brought everyone together.

Day 2: Hyvä’s Vision and the Road Ahead

The second day opened with Willem Wigman unveiling the Hyvä Roadmap, showcasing the next steps for Hyvä Theme, Checkout, Enterprise, and the newly introduced Hyvä Commerce. While other platforms chase trends, Hyvä remains focused on solving real-world challenges for developers and merchants—delivering performance, flexibility, and simplicity where it matters most.

One of the biggest announcements was Hyvä Commerce, a new suite designed to modernize Magento Open Source. It introduces a reimagined CMS, a customizable admin dashboard, and advanced media optimization tools—all aimed at making Magento easier to use and more powerful than ever.

Performance and security were also a focus, with updates like full CSP support, improved cart variations, and a more intuitive checkout experience. Meanwhile, Hyvä Enterprise continues to bridge the gap between Adobe Commerce and the Hyvä ecosystem, ensuring compatibility with B2B features while maintaining Hyvä’s hallmark speed and simplicity.

The roadmap also highlighted Hyvä’s rapid growth—with 5,000+ stores live, over a million monthly package installs, and an active community of developers worldwide. And with a strategic partnership with Mollie, Hyvä is scaling sustainably while remaining 100% independent.

Beyond Hyvä: Innovations from the Community

Beyond Hyvä’s own developments, the conference featured an impressive lineup of talks covering performance, security, and real-world case studies.

Ksenia Zvereva shared her insights on faster and smarter product delivery, emphasizing efficiency in bringing value to market. Karlijn Löwik and Erwin Hofman took a deep dive into Magento’s website performance bottlenecks, demonstrating how to diagnose and resolve the most common issues.

A highlight of the day was Matt Parkinson’s introduction of BlueFinch, a solution designed for rapid website creation and patching. Also, he introduced a new checkout, it’s a free solution that directly addresses the pain points of Luma checkout, making Magento even more competitive.

Security was another key topic, with Vinai Kopp delivering a detailed session on CSP compliance for Hyvä. As PCI requirements become stricter, Hyvä and Hyvä Checkout will soon include built-in CSP support, ensuring a safer and more compliant ecosystem.

The power of Magento for large-scale businesses was demonstrated by Sergej Derzap and Roger Rodrigo, who shared case studies on migrating XXL catalogs to Magento Open Source using Amasty and Hyvä. Their insights proved that Magento is still a strong contender for enterprises, often outperforming newer, trendier platforms.

Meanwhile, Andreas von Studnitz showcased how businesses can integrate multiple systems seamlessly using n8n, a low-code automation tool—a valuable reminder that complex workflows don’t always require custom development.

Strengthening the Magento Community

One of the most inspiring moments came from Jakub Winkler, who spoke about the evolution of the Magento community and the importance of collective action. His message was clear: if we want Magento to thrive, we must unite, contribute, and actively support Open Source initiatives. In a symbolic moment, the entire audience posed for a group photo, wearing Jakub’s signature snapbacks—a visual statement of their commitment to Magento’s future.

Following this, Alfreds Genkins introduced Satoshi, a collection of bold, practical solutions designed to enhance any Hyvä-based store—yet another free resource contributing to the ecosystem’s growth.

Wrapping Up: A Celebration of Innovation & Collaboration

As the event came to a close, the organizers—Ignacio Riesco, Andrea Saccà, and MC Rebecca Brocton—were met with well-earned applause. The final moments of Hyvä Developers Paradise weren’t just about the roadmap or new tools; they were a testament to the strength and passion of the Magento community.

And with that, the conference transitioned into the After-Party—a perfect ending to two days of learning, collaboration, and a shared vision for Magento’s future.

The message was clear: Magento is far from dead. With Hyvä leading the way, its best days may still be ahead.

Magento’s growth and innovation thrive when knowledge is shared, not locked away behind paywalls. If we want to see Magento flourish, we need to actively support its ecosystem. That means contributing code, sharing insights, and backing the Magento Association—whether through sponsorship, advocacy, or simply spreading the word. Every effort counts.

Now is the time to invest in Magento’s future. Let’s keep it open, thriving, and stronger than ever.
