Announcing the Magento Association Founding Task Force

This post was published previously under the original Magento Association blog. We felt the historical posts are an important part of our story.

At Imagine 2018, we announced the creation of a new global Magento Association in partnership with the Meet Magento Association team and our global community. I am pleased to report that we now have a key team of seven experienced Magento community members in place who will serve on a Task Force to help lead and establish the new Magento Association. Working with our launch partner SmithBucklin, the Task Force will complete the following actions by the end of 2018.

  • Finalize the mission and vision for the new Association
  • Collaborate and draft the Association bylaws and articles of incorporation
  • Establish the strategic plan, as well as operating budget for 2019
  • Review nominations and interview the Magento Association Founding Board of Directors

This is a momentous point on the path to establishing the Magento Association. Magento and SmithBucklin will remain involved to facilitate the work of the Task Force, but the scope and outcome of this process is officially in the hands of the community. The Task Force will ensure that the independent, insightful, and inviting spirit of the Meet Magento brand carries forward. This spirit will guide the Association as it identifies and supports future community areas of focus.

The diverse Task Force members were selected based on their Magento community experience and a balance of various characteristics and attributes that other trade associations have found to be successful:

  • Extensive Magento community experience
  • Strong history of community interaction, advocacy, and engagement
  • Inclusive, consensus-oriented mindset
  • Passion for serving and enabling others

Questions and discussion regarding this post and the Magento Association should be directed to our dedicated subforum. Of course, there is much more work to do in the coming months, and we want the Magento community to be involved. We will post further updates monthly and provide additional insight and announcements at MagentoLive Europe in Barcelona.

In the meantime, please get to know your Magento Association Task Force. We are immensely grateful for their commitment to the success of the Magento community and ecosystem at large. You can view the instruction & selection document which was used for this group here.
