2024 Board of Directors Election

The Magento Association is excited to announce the upcoming election process to bring two new members onto the Board of Directors. This election will follow both direct and slate election tracks, with one seat filled through each process. The elected members will begin their terms in December 2024.

Election Process Overview

We are committed to ensuring a fair and transparent election process that aligns with the needs and expectations of the Magento community. The election will have two tracks:

1. Direct Election Track: Community members will vote directly to elect one individual to the Board of Directors.
2. Slate Election Track: An Election Committee will review applications and recommend a candidate slate. The Board will then approve or reject the slate, after which the members of the Magento Association will vote on the final candidate.

Both tracks are designed to ensure that the Board is composed of individuals who can best serve the needs of our community and help drive the organization forward. The slate process, common in not-for-profit organizations, allows us to address gaps in skill sets, geographical representation, and diversity. At the same time, the direct election ensures broad participation and community engagement in selecting Board leadership.

Timeline and Application Process

Applications for both the direct and slate election tracks will open in the first half of October, 2024. Candidates will be reviewed by the Election Committee, and further details regarding the application and election process will be shared closer to the date.

The two elected members will begin their terms in December 2024, and we look forward to engaging with our community throughout the election process.

The Election Committee

We have established an Election Committee responsible for managing both the slate and direct election processes. The committee will:

• Finalize the application process for both tracks.
• Design and implement the slate selection process.
• Review applications and interview candidates.
• Recommend a slate of candidates for one Board seat, while the second seat will be filled through direct election.
• Provide feedback on any election-related questions or concerns.
