Magento Association Board Elections 2025: Results, Reflections, and What Comes Next
The 2025 Magento Association Board Elections have officially concluded—marking the completion of another milestone in our ongoing journey toward a strong, transparent, and community-driven organization.
Every election cycle gives the Magento ecosystem a chance to shape its future through active participation, thoughtful debate, and democratic decision-making. This year once again demonstrated the power of community engagement and the depth of expertise that defines the Magento Association.
A Dual-Track Process for Balanced Leadership
As in previous years, the 2025 Board Elections followed a dual-track model designed to ensure both inclusivity and strategic balance within the Board of Directors:
- Direct Election Track: A seat filled through a direct public vote, empowering Magento Association members to elect one Board Director directly.
- Slate Election Track: Three additional seats filled via a selection process led by the Election Committee, confirmed by the MA Board, and finally ratified through a member confirmation vote.
This structure combines broad participation with thoughtful oversight—ensuring that the Board represents the diversity of the global Magento ecosystem while maintaining a complementary mix of skills, geography, and perspectives.
Results of the 2025 Elections
Direct Track (Public Vote) Winner
Jakub Winkler – Founder & CEO, qoliber (Poland)
Jakub’s election through the Direct Track reflects his strong standing within the Magento developer and technical community. Earlier this year, he joined the Board ahead of schedule to fill the seat vacated by Willem Wigman, who stepped down for family reasons.
This early transition ensured continuity and allowed Jakub to bring his energy, technical leadership, and community advocacy directly into the Board’s work throughout 2025. Known for his clear communication, developer focus, and passion for open-source collaboration, Jakub embodies the community-driven spirit that lies at the core of the Magento Association’s mission.

Slate (Membership Confirmation) – Confirmed Board Directors
Noah Oken-Berg – Co-Founder & CEO, Above The Fray (USA)
Sergej Derzap – CEO, Amasty (Belarus)
Jisse Reitsma – Founder, Yireo (Netherlands)
The Election Committee reviewed and interviewed a highly qualified group of candidates before recommending this Slate of three individuals to the MA Board. After the Board’s approval, the Slate was confirmed by the Magento Association membership in a community-wide vote.
Each of these new Directors brings a wealth of experience and perspective to the table:
- Noah combines strategic and business acumen with deep involvement in the Magento ecosystem and a strong focus on merchant success.
- Sergej represents one of the ecosystem’s most active extension providers and brings valuable insight into product innovation, marketplace dynamics, and developer collaboration.
- Jisse, a long-time educator, developer, and advocate, contributes exceptional technical expertise and a passion for fostering knowledge-sharing across the global Magento community.
Together with Jakub, this new group strengthens the Board’s ability to guide the Magento Association through its next phase of evolution—uniting business insight, community leadership, and technical depth.

The Role of the Election Committee
Behind the scenes, the Magento Association Election Committee played a central role in ensuring that this year’s elections were conducted fairly, transparently, and in line with the Association’s bylaws and community expectations.
Composed of respected community members, the Committee was responsible for managing the candidate review process, organizing interviews, developing the Slate proposal, and ensuring procedural integrity at every step.
The 2025 Election Committee members were:
- Arron Moss
- Andreas von Studnitz
- Brent Peterson
- Tink Taylor
- Hafiz Muhammad Idrees Butt
- Slava Kravchuk
Their commitment, neutrality, and attention to detail helped guarantee a process that not only met organizational requirements but also reflected the values of transparency and trust that define the Magento Association.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to each of them for their time, diligence, and dedication.
Onboarding and the Road Ahead
The newly confirmed Slate members will participate in their onboarding sessions during the November and December Board meetings, joining discussions, strategic planning sessions, and working group updates to familiarize themselves with ongoing initiatives. Their official terms will begin on January 1, 2026.
Jakub Winkler, having already participated actively in Board meetings throughout 2025, will continue his term seamlessly into the new year, ensuring continuity and alignment across projects.
The next few months will focus on knowledge transfer, onboarding, and integration—setting up all incoming Board Directors for a strong start in 2026.
